County Sheriff Booking Process:
Persons taken into custody by the San Bernardino County Sheriff are brought to either the Barstow Sheriff Sub-station Jail or the West Valley Detention Center. If the person is not bailed out of the Sub-station, that person is held there until morning to appear at their first court arraignment. Release time after being bailed out is about 2-4 hrs. After their first court appearance, they are taken to the West Valley Detention Center. They could also be taken directly to the West Valley Detention Center after being arrested by the Police Department. In both cases, the release time for this facility is 8-12hrs. All release times are approximate and subject to change according to the work load of the jail operations staff.
